Patient Services and Funding Guidelines
ATTENTION
Because of funding restrictions, we are no longer able to assist with non-formulary items, such as medications not listed in our formulary, living expenses, rent, mortgages, gas cards, insurance premiums, and nutritional suppliments. We are able to assist with formulary items only, effective immediately. Any and all applications/requests for assistance with non formulary items will be placed immediately on a waiting list until our funding situation has improved.
Please continue SENDING IN (no faxes will be accepted) requests so that we can preserve the patients' positions when funding is restored. We also plan to use our waiting list as proof that we need additional funding.

CAGNO is often the last resort for cancer patients who have limited income and no health insurance. Our patient services program can help cover the costs of prescription pain and treatment medications, colostomy bags and comfort items (bedpads, etc.) for cancer patients who cannot afford these necessities and/or "fall through the cracks" of government assistance. The program has helped more than 400 cancer patients in the greater New Orleans area this year. Many of these patients have exhausted their own resources and have nowhere else to turn.
Cancer patients currently residing in the parishes of Jefferson, Orleans, Plaquemines, St. Bernard, St. Tammany and Tangipahoa (no equipment, living expenses or transportation assistance available in Tangipahoa Parish) also qualify to receive up to $500 in additional assistance with...
- Medical supplies or equipment (nutritional supplements)
- Medical expenses (co-pays, insurance premiums, medical and hospital bills)
- Living expenses (mortgage payments, rent, utility bills)
- Transportation (gas cards)
Additional financial help may be available for medical expenses such as prescription medications. Thanks to the Susan G. Komen Foundation, breast cancer patients are eligible for up to $500 in additional help.
If you or someone you know is in need of our assistance, please fill out the Patient Services Application Form (PDF format) and fax it to 504/733-0252. Please also mail in the original application form to:
